Andrew Arthur is an Associate in ZEK’s litigation group. Andrew has extensive experience representing clients in commercial and bankruptcy-related litigation, representing the Firm’s institutional clients such as major financial institutions in the state and federal courts in New York and New Jersey. Prior to joining ZEK, Andrew focused on counseling debtors, creditors, and trustees in both traditional Chapter 11 cases and Subchapter V small-business bankruptcies. He specialized in obtaining relief from the automatic stay; litigating proofs of claim; responding to motions and adversary complaints, including initiating, and defending preference and fraudulent conveyance actions. He represented clients in several high-profile bankruptcies including Sam Ash Music Corporation, WeWork Inc., and Rite Aid Corporation, often involving disputes with commercial leases and the sale of goods or services provided post-petition. Before entering private practice, Andrew clerked in both state and federal courts, including the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey for the Honorable Rosemary Gambardella. He also served as a law clerk for judges in the New Jersey Superior Court, General Equity and Civil divisions, for the Honorable Douglas H. Hurd and the Honorable Paul Innis. Andrew is a published author on bankruptcy related topics, with articles featured in the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal and American Bar Association Journal. He was also selected to the American Bankruptcy Institute’s 2024-25 Class of Diversity and Inclusion Mentorship Program. Outside the office, Andrew volunteers his time to the non-profit organization, America Needs You (ANY), where he serves as a Mentor Coach to first generation college students.
