Nicholas A. Savino joined ZEK’s New York office as an associate with the firm’s litigation group in March 2019. Nick’s practice focuses on Anti-Money Laundering (“AML”) Investigations and complex commercial litigation, representing financial institutions in numerous retail banking and collection matters in New York state courts and the Southern District of New York. Nick’s takes a thoughtful approach to litigation and endeavors to expedite cases in a cost-effective manner while limiting business interruption to the firm’s institutional clients. Prior to joining the Firm, Nick primarily represented large financial institutions on a variety of retail banking and complex commercial litigation matters, including fraud, embezzlement, and BSA/AML matters. Nick has managed and overseen e-discovery in matters involving complex financial products, insurance, employment, and trademark litigation. Nick has experience drafting motions, taking and defending depositions, presenting oral arguments, and conducting evidentiary and special referee hearings. Nick is well-suited to tailor his services based on the needs of each client as he has worked at both small/mid-size firms serving the middle market and multinational law firms serving large institutions and high net worth individuals. Outside litigation, Nick was formerly co-founder and in-house counsel of a sports technology start-up (“GolfAlike”) for which he drafted all formation documents, operating agreements, software development contracts, NDA’s, and other legal documents. Nick has successfully prosecuted and enforced various trademark registrations, including experience communicating with USPTO attorneys and responding to Trademark Office Actions. Nick understands the issues early stage start-ups face and the importance of providing practical legal advice to founding members. Nick also has an avid interest in Boxing and a thorough understanding of the business which led to his representation of a former welterweight champion boxer in connection with the negotiation of a multi-fight promotional agreement. Nick is a graduate of Fordham University School of Law (J.D., 2011) and Boston College (Political Science, B.A., 2006). While at Fordham, Nick was a member of the Journal of Corporate and Financial Law, a panel coordinator for the Fordham Sports Law Forum, and served as a mediator in small claims court at New York Supreme Court, NY County. Nick was a recipient of the 2012 Legal Aid Society Pro Bono Publico Award in recognition of his outstanding service, dedication and commitment to The Legal Aid Society and its clients. Nick has also worked with Kids in Need of Defense (“KIND”) to represent pro bono clients seeking asylum and SIJS status in Federal Immigration Court. In his personal life, Nick enjoys cooking, following politics and financial markets, playing basketball, golfing, snowboarding, hiking, competing in Esports (FGC), and spending time with friends or his adorable French Bulldog Rickshaw.
