Zeichner Ellman & Krause LLP today announced the appointment of James Medwick as an attorney in the New York-based law firm’s corporate group.

Mr. Medwick, who began his career at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, will focus on mergers and acquisitions, private funds, securities matters, and business formations, as well as corporate, partnership and limited liability company laws.

“In addition to being a wonderfully talented lawyer, James founded his own wine business several years ago which operates in a heavily regulated industry,” said David Chenkin, ZEK’s Managing Partner. “With this experience, James brings both legal and regulatory savvy and an entrepreneurial viewpoint to a broad array of business challenges. We anticipate his counsel on matters relating to e-commerce, online and social media marketing, IP protection, privacy laws, and fundraising will be extraordinarily helpful to current and future ZEK clients,” Chenkin added.

James has a J.D. from New York University School of Law and a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University, where he majored in international studies with a focus on Western Europe and was a member of the 2005 NCAA National Championship Men’s Lacrosse team. He also has an M. A. in philosophy from Columbia University. James is fluent in French, and proficient in Spanish and Italian.
